Imagine what the Monty Python writers might have dreamt up over dinner with Muddy Waters.
Andy Twyman's one man band act is a unique blend of deep blues with comedy and rock & roll. The result is a show packed with heart and humour. Andy has found a place as one of the most original acts on the circuit today. His distinct style has been heard and seen at Glastonbury Festival, on BBC Radio 2 and Channel 4.
Andy first took to the stage aged 12 in pubs and clubs, with his guitar, voice and harmonica, performing solo and jamming with local musicians including Rory Graham (aka Rag and Bone Man). Before hitting 18, he had gigged as a solo act in top London venues including The Jazz Café and 100 Club. Inspired by the raw hypnotic grooves of the North Mississippi Hill Country Blues artists, Andy learnt to play foot operated drums, giving his songs a beat to get people on their feet.
Andy's songwriting style brought a touch of surrealism and humour to the blues. The subject matter of his songs included pandas, Pot Noodle, and poultry.
In 2022 Andy joined Dana Gillespie's London Blues Band on guitar, going on to perform at Folk in the Park and Tenby Blues Festival with her. In 2024 joined forces with Sister Suzie to form Nothing in Rambling, a folk blues duo reimagining music from the 1920s and 1930s. He mixed and produced their debut album "Live at Bush Hall" which was released by APM Records to great acclaim.
2025 saw the release of Andy's first solo recordings since 2019 with an original song called 'I Do It Because I Like it' and a cover of Muddy Waters' Can't Be Satisfied.
