Dutch singer-songwriter Anna Nita is inspired by jazz, R&B and soul icons such as Sade, Lauryn Hill and Amy Winehouse. Together with her band she makes a mix of mindful R&B, soul & jazz with sharp lyrics on themes such as empowerment and hypersensitivity.
The band consists of guitarist Maarten Cima, pianist Tizaan Alphonso, bassist Michel Henquet and drummer Wouter Gulikers. Anna released her debut EP “Insulated” in April 2020. The singer is also working on new music with producer Kijk Een Ster. On Friday 18 December she released her new single ‘Somebody’s Gonna Love You’.
”I write very personal songs about my life. On my first EP “Insulated” I sing about my hypersensitivity, something I learned to accept while creating the songs. Writing helps me organise my thoughts, and making music improves my mental health. I have taught myself how to sing and write lyrics and melodies. Hopefully I can inspire other young creatives to just believe in yourself, no matter what others think. Through my music I want to encourage listeners to express themselves freely.”
